Motorcyclist, Pedestrian Killed In Manhattan Beach Crash

MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Two people were killed Tuesday morning after a motorcycle struck a pedestrian, authorities said.

The crash took place at 5:25 a.m. near Eighth Street and Sepulveda Boulevard, Manhattan Beach police said.

A female pedestrian was hit by a male motorcyclist traveling northbound on Sepulveda. The circumstances surrounding the crash were unclear.

"There's no crosswalk where the pedestrian is right now, but we don't know if they were in the street, how far, it too early to tell right now," police spokeswoman Stephanie Martin said.

Police said following the crash, the motorcycle continued to travel for about a block before coming to a stop.

The man and woman, whose identities were not released, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Sepulveda Boulevard was expected to be closed until 3 p.m. as authorities conduct their investigation.
