BANNING (CBSLA.com) — Access passes for residents seeking to return to the areas affected by the Silver Fire will be available at Highway 243 and Poppet Flats Road, authorities said Saturday.

Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Lisa McConnell said at midday that the previous distribution center at Hemet High School was no longer issuing the required passes.

On Friday, evacuation orders for the communities of Mt. Edna and Poppet Flats were lifted.

The Silver Fire has blackened 19,000 acres since erupting on Wednesday afternoon. Fire officials said ten people have been injured, including at least seven firefighters.

As of 6 p.m. Saturday, firefighters said the blaze was at 70 percent containment.

Authorities said the fire destroyed 26 residences, 1 commercial building and 21 outbuildings. The fire damaged two residences and six outbuildings.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
