VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Thursday said two people were injured in an overnight crash after their pickup truck collided into a utility pole in Ventura.

First responders were dispatched to Foothill Road and Hamilton Avenue about 2:20 a.m. following a report of an accident, according to a statement issued by the Ventura Fire Department.

Upon arriving on scene, firefighters found a pickup truck with major damage to the front passenger area.

One of the victims, identified as a man in his early twenties, was able to exit the vehicle without assistance. He sustained minor injuries.

Firefighters removed a second victim, identified as an adult female also in her early twenties, from the vehicle, the statement said.

She was subsequently taken to Ventura County Medical Center for further treatment of unspecified injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
