NoHo Man, 28, Suffers Severe Injuries From His Boat's Propeller

CASTAIC (CBSLA.com) — Officials say a North Hollywood man was severely injured by his own boat propeller Sunday morning at Pyramid Lake.

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Parks Bureau Marine Patrol responded to a call of an injured boater around 10:30 a.m.

When they arrived, they found a 28 year-old North Hollywood man with lacerations to his left arm and abdomen.

Authorities said the man and four friends were boating when the ship's propeller began to malfunction.

The owner got into the water to investigate. He found the propeller was entangled with fishing line. Two of the friends got into the water to assist.

While making the repairs, two men left in the boast said they noticed the boat was drifting near some rocks that could have damaged the craft. At that time, one of the men turned on the ignition and put the boat in reverse.

The injured man was airlifted to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
