The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) says the southbound I-5 connector to the southbound SR-2 will be closed from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m., a week after a tanker fire closed the thoroughfare.

Caltrans says the fiery crash last Saturday “caused extensive damage to the pavement, walls, support structures, drainage, and lighting.”

The tanker was hauling 8,500 gallons of fuel when it overturned and burst into flames. The driver escaped with minor injuries.

Caltrans says detours are expected to be posted.
