Bank Robbery Suspect Apprehended Waiting For Bus After Holdup

LAGUNA BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A bank robbery suspect authorities believe was depending on a public bus as his getaway vehicle has been apprehended by Laguna Beach police.

Kyle Alan Veach, 24, was arrested for violation of CPC Robbery and a parole hold Wednesday.

A US Bank employee called 911 at 11:58 a.m., telling dispatchers the institution had just been robbed and a male suspect had left the building, according to police.

The employee said the suspect placed a hand written note on the counter indicating he was robbing the bank. No weapon was seen by the bank teller nor was one simulated.

Dispatchers obtained a suspect description and dispatched police personnel to 310 Glenneyre Street.

A perimeter was set up and the bank was searched while other officers began a search of the downtown area for the suspect.

Witnesses were able to direct officers toward the suspect's last known location and direction of travel.

At 1:03 p.m., an officer saw a male at the bus stop at Jasmine and North Coast Highway who fit the description of the bank robbery suspect. Veach was booked after he was identified and upon further investigation.

The money stolen from the bank was recovered.
