Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (July 3)

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — We have turned a corner and the oppressive heat is starting to wane. Temperatures will be cooler inland today as the high pressure ridge shrinks.

Most of the excessive heat warnings have expired, but there is still a warning for mountain communities where temperatures will still be high. Warnings are also in place throughout the northern half of the state as the high has now shifted up to the north.

The big issue today will still be that monsoonal flow into Southern California. There is a chance for an isolated thunderstorm and we already seen some activity in the Barstow area this morning.

The marine layer is going to work into the basin over the next few days. Expect low clouds in the morning and hazy sunshine for the afternoon from Thursday through Saturday. There will be a little less cloud cover on Sunday, so expect some slight warming, but just to near average levels.  There will be moderate temperatures in our extended forecast.
