Man Found Fatally Shot In Front Of Mid-City Duplex

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Monday were investigating the death of man who was found fatally shot in front of a mid-city Duplex.

The man's body was found around 3:30 a.m. after Los Angeles police officers responded to a shots fired call in the 1400 block of South Cloverdale Avenue, officials said.

"As we were canvassing the area, we discovered a man slumped over on the ground," Los Angeles police Officer Angelica Weda said.

Police said the unidentified victim, who was believed to be in his 40s, was not affiliated with any gangs and was a resident of the duplex.

"It appears he was just standing out in his own front yard and was attacked," Det. John Skaggs.

Neighbors say the victim was from El Salvador and had two sisters that lived nearby.

A motive for the shooting was unknown. No suspect information was released.
