2 Killed In Small Plane Crash In Oxnard

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Saturday said two people were killed in a small plane crash in the city of Oxnard.

Battalion Chief Darwin Base of the Oxnard Fire Department says the plane went down in an agricultural field at Wooley Road and Victoria Avenue.

The crash was reported around noon one mile south of Oxnard Airport.

Base said that after the plane went down, it exploded. No one on the ground was hurt.

The National Transportation Safety Board has arrived on scene and will investigate, along with the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA says that the plane appeared to be a homemade RV3.

No further information was immediately available.
