Pit Bull Killed By Taser After Attacking 72-Year-Old Man, Killing Cat
MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A pit bull was killed by officers after attacking a 72-year-old man and killing a cat in Manhattan Beach.
Police were called to the 400 block of 30th Street at 4:20 p.m. Monday.
The man who was walking the pit bull said the animal attacked and killed a cat, then turned on him when he tried to intervene.
The victim suffered multiple puncture wounds.
At first, authorities tried to subdue the pit bull with pepper spray and a Taser, but both efforts were ineffective.
The animal then ran through the neighborhood. Out of fear for people's safety, officers used a Taser on the dog again, which caused its death.
