Suspect Killed In Perris Deputy-Involved Shooting

LAKE MATHEWS (CBSLA.com) — Officials said Saturday that a suspect was killed in a predawn deputy-involved shooting at a mobile home park in Perris.

Deputies were sent to the 2100 block of Oak Street near Aragon Drive, around 4:35 a.m. following a shots fired call, according to Riverside County sheriff's Deputy Josh Morales. The unincorporated area is in Lake Mathews.

When the deputies arrived they spotted a shotgun-carrying suspect inside the home. They said moments later the suspect aimed the weapon at the deputies. Gunfire was exchanged as the suspect emerged from the home and was shot and killed, Morales said.

Morales could not say how many deputies were involved in the shootout but said they were placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

No deputies were reported injured.
