ExxonMobil Refinery In Torrance Experiences ‘Heavy Flaring’

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — The ExxonMobil Torrance Refinery was experiencing “heavy flaring” Thursday following a power outage, according to the Torrance Fire Department.

The outage occurred at the plant in the 3700 block of W. 190th Street. The flaring started after the systems reset and power was restored.

All contract workers were evacuated out of the area, officials said.

Del Amo and Crenshaw boulevards were shut down.

The flames and a strong odor could reportedly be smelled for miles.

No injuries were reported.
