WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Officials spent hours Sunday investigating a strange and suspicious package left outside a Woodland Hills Pep Boys.

After detonation, authorities said the package — thought to possibly be explosives — turned out to be a lot of marijuana.

CBS2’s Art Barron reported from the scene.

The discovery of the device outside the Pep Boys at Victory and Fallbrook around 12:45 p.m.  forced a block of Victory to be closed for hours.

LAPD Lt. Sonia Monico said, “We try not to disrupt the traffic. Luckily it was a Sunday. Most of the businesses around here were closed … We try to inconvenience the less number of people we can.”

Authorities also evacuated the store.

Barron said the discovery of the device touched off a “flurry” of police activity.

Police used a robotic officer to retrieve the device. The bomb squad blew it up.

No one was hurt.

The investigation is on-going.
