Man Arrested In Fatal South LA Hit-And-Run

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police believe an argument led to a fatal hit-and-run accident in South Los Angeles late Wednesday night.

Police say the suspect and his girlfriend were involved in a domestic dispute just before 11 p.m. near 84th Street and Avalon Boulevard.

The suspect allegedly smashed the windshield of his girlfriend's car and fired several shots, before taking off in his own vehicle down 84th street.

Witnesses say he then drove erratically before his vehicle collided with a bicyclist on Central Avenue.

"When he started smashing down the street . . . I saw him hit a dip when he hit Central and he just lost control of the car," one witness told CBS2.

The driver, who is in his mid-20s, was arrested without incident after fleeing the scene on foot. It was unclear what charges he will face.

The unidentified victim is believed to be in his 30s or 40s.

The accident and shooting are under investigation.
