POMONA ( — A 22-year-old Pomona resident Friday was struck by gunfire.

A statement issued by the Pomona Police Department identified the victim as Joey Padilla.

The statement says Padilla was found by officers at Pearl Street and Park Avenue after the 11:48 p.m. shooting.

Police say Padilla was struck multiple times in his lower extremities.

He was treated at the scene by first responders and was subsequently taken to an area hospital.

Padilla’s current condition was not known.
