Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (May 9)

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — We are waking up to some low clouds in the coastal plain this morning, but we should see some sunshine once again today.

In fact the valleys are looking clear at this early hour.  While there will still be a mix of clouds and sun, the sun will win out a little more today.

There is still a little instability over the area, so a mountain thunderstorm is not out of the question.  At the very least, we will see a little cumulus build up in our higher elevations.

Temperatures will be up a couple of degrees.  We should hover around average for this time of year.

By Friday the high pressure begins to settle in and we will have some warmer temperatures.  We are expecting temps in the 80s all weekend long.  It should be a spectacular Mother's Day.

Look for some cooling next week.

Basin - low to mid 70s

Beaches - upper 60s

Valleys - mid 70s

Mountains - mid 50s

Deserts - upper 70s
