Missing Boy, 12, Last Seen At His Irvine Home

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Police are looking for a missing 12-year-old boy who was last seen Monday night at his Orange County home.

Kyva Roberson was reported missing just before 10 p.m., Irvine police said.

He was last seen earlier in the day when he was sent to his bedroom as a punishment.

"His family believes Kyva left his home, near Deerfield Avenue and Culver Drive, intending to run away, sometime later in the afternoon," Irvine police spokesperson Julia Engen said.

Detectives later discovered Roberson contacted a male friend that afternoon and was later seen with him on surveillance around 7 p.m. at an area McDonald's, officials said.

"The friend is no longer with Kyva and Kyva's current location is not known," Engen said.

Detectives believe Roberson is still in the Irvine area and has no known access to money or a cell phone.

Roberson is 4 feet 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 80 pounds. He was last seen wearing jeans, a zip-up navy blue jacket, white socks with sandals and a light blue Orlando Magic baseball cap, authorities said.

The child also speaks with an Australian accent.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Irvine Police Department at (949)724-7200.
