Man Flees After Crashing Truck Into Compton Business In Arson Attempt

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A man drove a truck into a South Los Angeles restaurant Tuesday morning, causing the vehicle and the structure to catch fire.

The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. at 2020 North Santa Fe Avenue in Compton, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

The accident sparked a fire in what authorities are calling an arson attempt based on a similar incident involving the same business, detectives said.

The driver of the truck fled the scene on foot. His identity was not released.

The crash is under investigation.
