OC Marathon Holds Moment Of Silence For Boston Bombing Victims

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A moment of silence was held before the OC Marathon Sunday for victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Over 2,200 runners from 45 states and 21 nations — including 13 who ran in the Boston Marathon — participated in the race which started at the Fashion Island shopping center in Newport Beach and ended at the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa.

Several running clubs, groups, families and individuals wore Boston themed t-shirts and headwear in honor of those affected by the April 15 bombings.

Security was increased, and no unattended bags were allowed along the course. All participants were required to use clear draw-string bags for storing personal items.
