Man, 36, Fatally Struck By Van While Crossing Riverside Street

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A 36-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a van in Riverside Saturday.

Antonio Mendoza, of Riverside, and a 28-year-old woman were crossing the street in the 10600 block of Grammercy Place when they were both struck by a 1999 Ford, according to the Coroner's office.

The incident was reported just before 11 p.m.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Mendoza was transported to Riverside Community Hospital where he was declared dead just after midnight.

The van's driver was not arrested.

The accident is under investigation. Riverside police urged anyone with information about the accident to  call Detective Ken Madsen at (951) 826-8723.
