Man Sentenced 61 Years For Impregnating Female Relative, 11
SANTA ANA (AP) — Orange County prosecutors say a man has been sentenced to 61 years in prison for sexually assaulting a female relative for eight years, resulting in her pregnancy at age 11.
Spokeswoman Farrah Emami says 58-year-old Mariano Antonio Castro was sentenced Friday. A jury found him guilty of six felonies in February.
Castro engaged in intercourse and oral copulation with the girl from the time she was 8 until she was 17 years old, between 2000 and 2008.
She gave birth at age 12 but the sexual abuse was not reported to authorities, and continued.
It wasn't reported to police until 2011 when she went to a new church and confided in her pastor, who urged her to tell.
Castro is registered as a sex offender for life.
