Ex-Los Alamitos Teacher, 43, Accused Of Having Sexual Relationship With Girl, 15

LOS ALAMITOS (CBSLA.com) — A 43-year-old Huntington Beach man is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

Abdel Chehade taught vocational classes at Los Alamitos High School from 2011 to October of last year.

The former wood shop teacher was arrested near his home Thursday, posted his $100,000 bail and has been released from custody, according to jail records.

In addition to working for the North Orange County Regional Occupational Program -- which offers vocational classes for high school students and adults, Chehade also taught classes at Los Alamitos High School, according to Los Alamitos police Capt. Bruce McAlpine.

Chehade was let go last October after officials received an anonymous tip about an alleged relationship he was having with a student.

Police were not able to make a case against Chehade until the alleged victim came forward, McAlpine said. Investigators suspect the two were involved in a sexual relationship from May to October of last year.

Sources told CBS2/KCAL9 that it's believed Chehade has a 16-year-old son who attends Los Alamitos High.

Police believe there may be more victims.

Anyone with information about this or any other case possibly involving Chehade is asked to call police at (562) 431-2255, ext. 405.
