Lakers Legend Reports 3 Championship Rings Stolen From His Home

PALOS VERDES ESTATES (CBSLA.com) — Police are investigating a report of a theft of three NBA championship rings from a home formerly owned by Lakers legend A.C. Green.

Police said Green allegedly hired day laborers to help him move property from his home and into storage.

Green told police when he returned home, the boxes containing the rings were missing.

The three stolen rings are valued at $25,000 each.

Stacey Butler, reporting for KCAL9, said Green's home was recently foreclosed on.

Neighbors told Butler Green moved into the home in 2005. He purchased it for $7 million.

A neighbor said two days ago a moving van took property out of the home.

According to Zillow, a real estate website, the home was foreclosed on in October of 2012.  The home was re-listed for $2.2 million last month.

Police told Butler they were not sure if the rings were insured.

Officials are investigating the case as a theft and ask the public to be vigilant if the rings should turn up.
