Gardener, 72, Found Dead After Apparent Drowning At Sunland Home

SUNLAND (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday were investigating the drowning of a 72-year-old gardener in the backyard pool at a home in Sunland.

The drowning was reported around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday along the 10900 block of Meseta Drive in the Shadow Hills neighborhood, according to the LAPD Foothill Station.

The victim had a leaf blower strapped to his back when emergency personnel recovered his body from the water, police said.

The homeowner arrived home in the evening and found the gardener's truck parked at the residence, despite his normal schedule of finishing around midday, Police Lt. Brian Bixler told the Associated Press.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
