Local Health Care Group Looking To Hire 150 New Employees

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — As the economy begins to grow, many local people have still found themselves out of work. One health care company is looking to hire 150 Southern Californians.

The UnitedHealth Group currently employs nearly 200,000 people across the nation. The company is currently looking to hire 150 new employees throughout Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties.

One of the company's divisions currently hiring includes the pharmaceutical division, OptumRx. Pharmacy technicians are reportedly becoming more sparse, but the company allegedly has a large number of qualified people from throughout Southern California.

The company also provides opportunity for advancement, with a number of employees moving up within a year or two of employment. Kyle Strode moved up to lead pharmacy technician within his first year at UnitedHealth group, and now he process prescriptions for doctors, as well as assists patients with orders.

"If you're not willing to go back and get additional training, if you're not willing to go back and make the hard choices of 'I'm not going to do what I always did before', then it's going to be really difficult to find something now," Strode said. "This is the highest-paying job that I've ever had."

Entry-level pharmacy clerks at the company make anywhere from $26,000 to $29,000 a year, while entry-level customer service representatives make anywhere from $27,000 to $30,000.

In addition to competitive salaries, UnitedHealth Group also offers a number of bonuses and incentives. The company offers health benefits, vacation pay, 401K plan, stock purchase plans, referral fees, and for those hoping to continue furthering their education, there is tuition reimbursement.

Those looking to apply can do so at UnitedHealth Group's website.
