STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle officer en route to investigate an accident in Studio City Tuesday afternoon was injured in a collision.

The incident happened one block north of Fryman Place at 3356 Laurel Canyon Boulevard around 5:15 p.m.

The officer was struck when a driver stuck in traffic made a U-turn in front of him.

The cop was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Sky2′s Meghan Reyes.

Two drivers involved in the original crash were taken to the hospital.

Police closed Laurel Canyon in both directions between Mulholland and Ventura Boulevard, which caused traffic to back up.
