PANORAMA CITY (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles police Sunday continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deadly shooting in Panorama City.
The victim, identified as a 35-year-old Hispanic man, was walking on Parthenia Street about 10:35 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by gunfire, police said in a department statement.
Arriving officers found the victim badly bleeding. He died while en route to a hospital.
“Several neighbors called 9-1-1 reporting gunfire in the area,” said Capt. Todd Chamberlain, commanding officer of LAPD Mission Area Police Station, said. “But we have yet to know if the suspects were on foot or in a car, or why this shooting happened.”
A motive for the killing is not known. The statement said the victim lived nearby and had no known gang ties.
Anyone with more information about the case is asked to call Detective Efren Gutierrez at (818) 838-9948.
