MOUNTAIN CENTER (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters found charred human remains inside a car in Mountain Center after they were called to fight a nearby brush fire.
No arrests have been made, according to a police sergeant.
Officials were called to the fire — burning along Highway 74 on the Santa Rosa Indian Reservation — about 3:55 p.m. Friday.
The car — a 1990s Ford Mustang — and remains were found south of Idyllwild and east of Hemet.
Investigators were unable to identify the person inside the vehicle, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Wallace Clear said
An investigation is on-going. The death appears to be suspicious, Clear said.
