Hiker Who Fell To His Death Near Rancho Cucamonga ID'd

LAKE ELSINORE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities on Saturday released the identity of a hiker who fell to his death while rock climbing in the foothills north of Rancho Cucamonga.

The deceased, identified as 19-year-old Jacob Daniel Hernandez, was pronounced dead at the scene on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say Hernandez had been hiking and rock climbing with his cousin when he fell about 75 feet.

The apparent accident occurred in Cucamonga Canyon near Sapphire Falls.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
