HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles police are investigating a string of smash-and-grab street robberies that occurred overnight in Hollywood.

The crimes took place over a 30-minute period, beginning around 10:50 p.m. Monday.

"There was four separate robberies that occurred in the Hollywood area, starting north and working their way south, the final one was an attempted carjacking," Det. Bradley Mossie said.

The robberies began at the intersection of Selma Avenue and Schraeder Boulevard and then continued to the 1300 block of Wilcox Avenue and the intersections of June Street and Lexington Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard and Waring Avenue, according to authorities.

Police say between four and five Hispanic men, possibly with hammers, knives and even a Taser, threatened four separate victims who were getting into or out of their vehicles.

The suspects stole cash, wallets, cell phones and purses.

"We believe the same suspects were involved in all the robberies," Det. Mossie said.

The suspects were described only as being in their late teens and early 20s who were wearing hoodies, officials said.

No injuries were reported.
