JURUPA VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A one-year-old boy was critically burned Thursday afternoon in a Jurupa Valley house fire.
The boy was burned over 50 percent of his body, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The fire was reported in a home in the 4300 block of Opal Street at 3:30 p.m.
Crews arrived to find the attic of an 800-square-foot home in flames. A car parked in the yard and a detached garage, were also on fire, a spokeswoman said.
Sheriff’s officials said the boy suffered second-and third-degree burns. He was rushed to a burn trauma facility in critical condition.
No other injuries were reported.
Four engine crews and a truck company had the blaze fully contained within a half hour, according to department officials.
