IRWINDALE (CBSLA.com) — The 210 Freeway was briefly shutdown Wednesday morning after a cement truck caught fire, the California Highway Patrol said.
The truck caught fire around 3:30 a.m. on the eastbound Foothill Freeway in Irwindale.
Investigators believe the truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit the center divider wall, sparking the fire.
According to the CHP, diesel fuel from its tank ignited, fully engulfing the truck, officials said.
The fire forced the closure of both sides of the freeway.
Four eastbound lanes were reopened around 4:20 a.m., and three westbound lanes were reopened about 20 minutes later, leaving the carpool lanes in either direction and one westbound main lane closed, the CHP said.
One person was treated for minor injuries on scene.
