WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A ban on single-use plastic bags will go into effect at West Hollywood stores Wednesday.
The ban, which was approved by the City Council last August, will affect grocery and retail spots that are at least 10,000 square feet.
Stores in West Hollywood that are smaller than 10,000 square feet have until Aug. 20 to comply with the ban.
Shoppers can either bring their own reusable bags or buy paper bags at the stores for 10 cents each.
Santa Monica, Malibu, Long Beach and other cities have already prohibited plastic bags in stores.
