WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 24-year-old woman has been arrested in Oregon in connection with the murder of her mother in Woodland Hills.

Laura Purviance was arrested by Ore. State Troopers around 4 a.m. Friday at a rest area along Interstate 5 about 13 miles north of Medford.

The victim, identified as Purviance’s 61-year-old mother, was found around 8:20 p.m. Thursday in the 5600 block of Mason Avenue.

Investigators allege that Purviance shot the woman during an argument.

Purviance’s roommate found the body.

The quiet neighborhood has been stunned by the shooting.
