LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Jerry Buss’ family says the Los Angeles Lakers owner is “doing fine” despite being hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
CBS2/CAL’s Jim Hill confirms Buss, 79, is suffering from an undisclosed form of cancer.
“He’s doing fine. We just aren’t going to make any comments on it. We’ve been dealing with this,” his son Jim Buss said in a statement.
Friday, USA Today said Buss has been in the hospital for a “few months.”
Since learning of his condition last year, former and current Laker greats such as Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol have all visited Buss.
Several of them are sharing their support for Buss on Twitter:
Dr. Buss is an important part of the Laker family so I hope his stay in the hospital is short and he has a speedy recovery. #Jerrybuss—
