Police Say Possible Kidnapping Was 'Just Idiots Being Idiots'

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Police found a person in the trunk of a car while making a traffic stop in North Hollywood and investigated it as a possible kidnapping.

By late Thursday afternoon, LAPD determined there was no crime committed and it was a false alarm.

Officers pulled over the vehicle in an alley near Kittridge Street and Vineland Avenue shortly before 1 p.m., according to LAPD Officer Diana Figueroa.

Police had the five passengers exit the vehicle and found another person when they checked the trunk.

"It wasn't a kidnapping," LAPD media relations Officer Christopher No said. He added, "They were all friends. It was just idiots being idiots."

Officers reportedly issued the six men misdemeanor citations for drunkenness and related charges.
