Bicyclist Shot Near Long Beach High School

LONG BEACH ( — A bicyclist was shot near Long Beach Polytechnic High School Wednesday afternoon.

The incident, which is believed to be unrelated to the campus, happened around 4:20 p.m. at Atlantic Avenue and Esther Street.

The man was shot in the torso, according to Sgt. Aaron Eaton of the Long Beach Police Department.

Eaton said it’s unknown if the shooting was gang-related even though gang detectives were investigating the crime.

The victim is in serious condition.
