Mom Of 2 Killed During Robbery At Lynwood Liquor Store

LYNWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A mother of two was fatally shot during a robbery at a liquor store in Lynwood Thursday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies said the woman was found on the floor inside the business in the 11000 block of South Alameda Street around 3:30 p.m.

Homicide detectives said the victim, who reportedly owned the mini-mart with her husband, was shot multiple times in the upper torso.

A unidentified man who worked nearby said he heard screams to call 911.

Tamlin Watkins, the victim's friend, told KCAL9's Brittney Hopper that he was devastated.

"It's heartbreaking. It's unbelievable. There are no words for it," he said.

Watkins said the woman and her husband were married for 30 years.

"Very pleasant. Always treated people well. A very good woman," he said. "It's a loss to the community."
