1 Dead, 2 Seriously Hurt In Canyon Country Crash

CANYON COUNTRY (CBSLA.com) — One driver was killed and two other people seriously hurt in a collision involving two trucks in Canyon Country Saturday evening.

The accident occurred just after 5:40 on Sierra Highway near Davenport Road just north of Highway 14 in Santa Clarita.

CBS2 and KCAL9 reporter Rachel Kim said rescuers had a lot of trouble extricating victims from the crash.

[Update: Sunday evening] The deceased was identified as Rigoberto Conchas, a 52-year-old Agua Dulce resident.

The other driver, an unidentified 58-year-old man also from Agua Dulce, was hospitalized with major injuries. His condition Sunday evening was unknown.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
