LAGUNA NIGUEL (CBSLA.com) — Detectives are investigating the death of a 24-year-old woman who was fatally shot in an exclusive Orange County neighborhood Friday morning.

KNX 1070′s Ron Kilgore reports the shooting took place at the Niguel Summit apartment complex in the 30000 block of Pacific Island Drive, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

“We received a call about 1:25 this morning from the victim’s husband saying he shot his wife,” Jim Amormino of the OCSD said.

Johanah Wade suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Mission Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, he said.

The victim’s husband was questioned and released pending further investigation, deputies said.

“It’s unsure if it was an accident. We’re calling it a death investigation. We’re not calling it a homicide at this time,” Lt. Joe Balicki said.

No arrests have been made.
