MONTEBELLO (CBSLA.com) — A Catholic school in Montebello was placed on lockdown Friday after an officer-involved shooting left one suspect wounded.
The incident near Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal occurred just before 6 p.m. near North Wilcox Avenue.
CBS2′s Stu Mundel says prior to the shooting, officers with the Montebello Police Department had set up a perimeter to search for armed suspects.
“While that perimeter was set up, officers did find one of those suspects. There was some sort of confrontation and there were shots fired,” Mundel said.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the arm. No one else was hurt.
Amanda Burden, reporting for CBS2, says the children were transported by bus to the Montebello Police Department to meet their parents.
No further information was immediately available.
