Boy, 4, Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In South LA

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 4-year-old boy was injured by a hit-and-run driver in South Los Angeles Thursday afternoon, the LAPD reported.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. in the 700 block of West 82nd Street.

The victim and his parents were standing on the side of the residential road, about to get into their car, when the boy stepped into the street.

A man reportedly driving a dark-colored Lincoln, possibly an SUV, struck the child and drove off.

The boy was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. He's expected to recover.

"The 4-year-old is fine, some scrapes, no serious injuries. Detectives now have the leads and are following up on the hit-and-run driver," Lt. Manuel Martinez said.

LAPD officials say they have the suspect's license plate and home address, and are working to track him down. They ask anyone with information about the suspect to contact them.
