84-Year-Old Woman Seriously Injured By 2 Pit Bulls In Jurupa Valley

JURUPA VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say an 84-year-old Jurupa Valley woman was seriously injured Thursday when two neighbor pit bulls attacked her.

The unidentified woman was attacked around 11 a.m., according to Riverside County Department of Animal Services spokesperson John Welsh.

The attack occurred near Beach and 54th Streets.

The victim was reportedly en route to pick up her mail at a community mailbox near her home.

Welsh said the dogs crawled out from underneath a fence and charged the woman.

Both dogs bit the woman. "She was severely hurt," Welsh said, "a terrible, tragic attack."

The dogs were seized and reportedly put down. The dogs' owner was given multiple citations including violating the county's leash law.

The woman was taken to Riverside Community Hospital. Her condition is unknown.
