LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) – CBS2/KCAL9 Sports Director Jim Hill confirmed Thursday that Lakers Executive Vice President of Operations Jeanie Buss and 11-time NBA Champion Phil Jackson got engaged over the holidays.

Buss and Jackson, who coached the Lakers to a three-peat in 2000 to 2002 and 2009-2010, have been dating since 2001.

The Queen of the Lakers revealed her engagement on twitter Thursday by posting a picture of her new diamond ring.

Just after the Lakers fired Mike Brown after 5 games of the 2012 season, Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak reached out to Jackson in attempts to bring back the Zenmaster to coach the Lakers.

Instead, they made a surprise move by hiring Team USA assistant and former Suns coach Mike D’Antoni.
