WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they have recovered a Vietnam-era Military uniform and medals that were taken from one of two West Covina homes recently burglarized.
West Covina police said in a department statement that several items, including the uniform, were taken during the Dec. 19 burglary of a home in the 1300 block of E. Louisa.
The second incident on Dec. 24, occurred at a home in the 600 block of N. Eileen Avenue.
According to police, the victims in both incidents found their gas stove burners on without the flame. They were later alerted by their credit card company that someone was allegedly attempting to use one of their stolen cards at a Covina Kmart store.
“Officers responded to that location and stopped a car carrying the suspects from Kmart,” the statement said.
According to police, items from both burglaries were located in the car.
Three suspects, ranging in age from 27 to 18, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property, among other charges.
The statement said that the uniform was found on Dec. 26, allegedly in one of the suspect’s home following a separate investigation.
