CHATSWORTH (CBSLA.com) — A 20-year-old mother and her two children were injured in a hit-and-run crash in Chatsworth Thursday afternoon.

The collision happened shortly before 2 p.m. on Lassen Street, east of Winnetka Avenue.

The suspect sped off after he reportedly struck the victims’ vehicle, but was taken into custody by police about a quarter of a mile away from the scene.

The young mom and her infants were taken to the hospital with lacerations, according to Sky9’s Derek Bell.

The hit-and-run driver also hit a workman’s truck, which caused it to leak gas.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department worked to clean up the area.
