RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities in Riverside say one person is deceased after they were struck by a hit-and-run driver Sunday evening.

Police said the accident occurred at East Merced Avenue and South Lark Ellen Avenue.

A suspect has reportedly been detained at nearby Merced and Wilson.

Officials said the suspect has a laceration to their left forearm.

The deceased was declared dead at the scene on the sidewalk in front of 1204 South Lark Ellen.

Police believe alcohol played a factor in the crash.
