LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A large group of celebrities participated in a PSA released Friday urging lawmakers to make a change to end gun violence.

The YouTube video "Demand A Plan to End Gun Violence" had over 3.6 million views Monday morning.

The stars started the PSA with listing mass shootings, including the most recent Newtown, Conn. massacre before asking for a call to action.

The 1:22 video features entertainers such as: Jamie Foxx, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Beyoncé, Conan O'Brien, Jeremy Renner, Jessica Alba, Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Selena Gomez, Jon Hamm, Chris Rock and Jennifer Aniston.

The Demand A Plan website outlines specifically what these celebrities, and thousands of other supporters, are calling for.

"Our efforts cannot bring back the 20 innocent children murdered in Newtown, CT — or the 34 people murdered with guns every day in America. But we can prevent future tragedies by passing common sense legislation that will:

  1. Require a criminal background check for every gun sold in America
  2. Ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines
  3. Make gun trafficking a federal crime, including real penalties for 'straw purchasers'

Demand that your members of Congress and the president support these legislative priorities."
