LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles school teacher who led police on a wild freeway chase, including a dramatic pickup truck plunge over an embankment, has been sentenced to prison for committing lewd acts with a 14-year-old girl and evading officers.
City News Service says 51-year-old Kip Richard Arnold was ordered Monday to serve four years and four months behind bars.
Arnold led police on a chase in July when he saw officers investigating allegations that he had a sexual relationship with the girl in 2005. During the chase his pickup truck swerved over an embankment in Rolling Hills Estates and crashed into a tree 70 feet below.
Arnold was a physical education teacher at Southeast Middle School in South Gate.
