CASTAIC (CBSLA.com) — A 26-year-old man was arrested Thursday for throwing a lit Molotov cocktail through the window of his parents’ home in Castaic.

Ahmad Smadi of Sun Valley threw the incendiary device at the residence around 6:20 a.m. in the 30500 block of Corsica Place.

Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrived on the scene and found that the device didn’t function properly.

No one was injured in the incident.

According to investigators, Smadi has made threats against his family members.

California Highway Patrol officers took the suspect into custody in the Oxnard area.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into the situation.
